(AURN News) President Trump is making a rare trip to Capitol Hill today, and the tension inside the room may rival anything else happening.
Trump will attend a closed-door Senate Republican luncheon, his first in more than a year, to meet with GOP senators who have grown increasingly frustrated with his leadership.
The visit comes one day after four of the same senators voted against him on the Iran powers resolution.
The grievance runs deep.
Ahead of the meeting, Texas Sen. John Cornyn offered a blunt assessment, saying the party is not on the same page right now and that, in his words, “It’s dangerous going into the midterms.”
