(AURN News) — A dire warning was issued by President Donald Trump in the wake of two shootings involving federal immigration enforcement agents in Minneapolis.

The first incident involved a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent fatally shooting 37-year-old mother Renee Good on Jan. 7. The second shooting occurred this week when a federal agent shot a man in the leg during a traffic stop in north Minneapolis.

“Federal law enforcement officers were conducting a targeted traffic stop in Minneapolis of an illegal alien from Venezuela who was released into the country by Joe Biden in 2022,” the Department of Homeland Security claimed in a post on X following this week’s shooting.

The next day, Trump doubled down on the strong rhetoric.

“If the corrupt politicians of Minnesota don’t obey the law and stop the professional agitators and insurrectionists from attacking the Patriots of I.C.E., who are only trying to do their job, I will institute the INSURRECTION ACT, which many Presidents have done before me, and quickly put an end to the travesty that is taking place in that once great State,” he posted Thursday morning on Truth Social.

The rarely used Insurrection Act allows the president to deploy U.S. military forces domestically, a power that has drawn scrutiny because of its broad language and limited oversight.
