President Donald Trump has revoked Secret Service protection for former Vice President Kamala Harris, just before she begins a 15-city tour promoting her new book, “107 Days.”
By law, former vice presidents receive six months of protection after leaving office. But former President Joe Biden extended Harris’ coverage to 18 months, which would have carried her into July 2026.
Her protection ends Monday. The White House says Trump is following the law, but the timing is drawing scrutiny as Harris prepares for her return to the public stage.
Trump has done this before. Earlier, he revoked protection from former Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas. And back in March, he ended protection for Biden’s children, which Biden had extended before leaving office.
