(AURN News) — African leaders, investors and business executives gathered at MGM National Harbor on Thursday with a message: Africa does not need more promises — it needs investment and partnerships.

The Africa Business Investment Summit focused on unlocking capital and expanding trade, with organizers setting a $500 million deal mandate.

The two-day gathering brings together policymakers, institutional investors, entrepreneurs and members of the African diaspora to move potential investment toward actual partnerships and transactions.

Ghana’s ambassador to the U.S., Victor Emmanuel Smith, told attendees Africa’s story is too often defined by its challenges instead of its opportunities, emphasizing the continent’s need for capital, technology, expertise and strategic partnerships.
