(AURN News) — A game-worn, autographed Michael Jordan jersey from the 1998 NBA Finals sold for a staggering $14 million, setting a new record for basketball memorabilia, according to NBA.com.
The red Chicago Bulls jersey was worn by Jordan during Game 2 against the Utah Jazz on June 5, 1998. Jordan helped the Bulls win that game and eventually capture their sixth NBA championship.
Miami real estate investor Ron Firman purchased the jersey in a private sale arranged by Hunt Auctions.
The $14 million sale surpasses the prices paid for two other Jordan jerseys from the same championship series. His Game 1 jersey sold for $10.1 million in 2022, while his Game 3 jersey fetched $12.3 million last month.
The $14 million sale is also the second-highest known price ever paid for a game-worn sports jersey.
Jordan announced his second retirement in January 1999, following his final season with the Bulls.
