(AURN News) — A new poll of voters in competitive House districts finds rising energy costs could carry a political price for President Donald Trump and congressional Republicans. In the survey, 60% of voters said Trump is making energy prices worse for consumers. Meanwhile, 54% said the same about Republicans in Congress.
And household bills are weighing heavily on voting decisions. Grocery costs topped voters’ concerns at 68%, followed by gasoline prices at 46% and utility bills at 37%. Hart Research conducted the online survey of 1,026 registered voters across 61 competitive or potentially competitive House districts for environmental and energy advocacy groups.
Democrats led Republicans 49% to 46% on the congressional ballot, a narrow edge within the survey’s stated uncertainty range.
The pressure is on candidates to explain how their policies will bring those household bills down.
