
Bo Diddley was born on this day in 1928.Bo Diddley was known as an original and influential rock and roll singer who influenced other artists of his era like Buddy Holly, Jimi Hendrix and Eric Clapton. Born Ellas McDaniel in McComb,
Mississippi in 1928, but was raised in Chicago. In church, he played violin, trombone and guitar. As an adult, he was playing in Chicago clubs. He took the name Bo Diddley and in 1954 the song “Bo Diddley”became a number one R&B hit. He is also known for the songs 1960’s “Road Runner,” 1962’s “You Can’t Judge a Book by the Cover” and 1967’s”Ooh Baby.” Bo Diddley has been inducted into theRock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1987 and the Blues Hall of Fame in 2003. He passed away in 2008 at 79 years old.
