CNN reports that Texas Governor Greg Abbott said in a statement that Jackson provided the funds “so they would have one less thing to worry about as they grieved.”

Uvalde Mayor Don McLaughlin told the news network that Jackson flew in and presented a check for $170,000 to Abbott.

Jackson played football and baseball at Auburn University before playing in both the NFL and MLB.
