No summer is complete without its very own soundtrack, and 2019 is no exception. So here are the AURN Top Five Must-Have Albums that you need to secure for Summer ’19!

1. Freddie Gibbs & Madlib “Bandana”

Freddie Gibbs has been the underdog who holds the torch for the streets a little over a decade now. His recent team-up with super-producer Madlib to create Bandana makes the argument that he(Gibbs) should be in the top rapper conversation with the best of them. The combination of Freddie Gibb’s smooth conversational verses added by Madlib’s edgy clear sounding production creates a perfect musical marriage. Translation: Gangbangin gets classical piano lessons.

Standout track: Flat Tummy Tea

2. Tyler The Creator “IGOR”

One should love this album because 1) You’ve always loved Tyler’s music or 2) To see why DJ Khaled hatred ran so deep. IGOR is another added jewel to Tyler The Creator’s genius catalog. Each song sounds completely different yet collectively pushes creative boundaries past all normal boxed in limitations. Translation: Only Tyler can make weird music sound good.

Standout track: A Boy Is A Gun

3. J.Cole & Dreamville “Revenge Of The Dreamers III”

Compilation albums are commonly known to be trash because the well-known artist star is too busy outshining their cronies with each charity appearance. Return Of The Dreamers III  destroys that stereotype by having a diverse group of M.C.s and singers sound like a unified front. Translation: J.Cole friends have real talent, unlike the stereotypical celebrity-don’t-have-a job-friends.

 Standout Track: Under The Sun

4. Megan THEE Stallion Fever”

If authenticity is the common thread of all legendary artist, then Fever is Megan Thee Stallion path to greatness. The Queen of #HotGirlSummer commonly sexual content doesn’t outshine her Grade-A rhyme skill-set. Translation: Unapologetic enjoyable Rated-R music that doesn’t ask nor need permission from anyone.

 Standout Track: Hood Rat Sh*t

5. Big K.R.I.T. “K.R.I.T. Iz Here”

K.R.I.T. Iz Here is a composition of Big K.R.I.T.’s lyrical wit, open honesty and introspective storytelling. The production has hard bass-driven beats that are for Cadillac and Chevy drivers while inviting all listeners to the passenger side.  Translation: Conscious lyrics covered in strip club beats.

Standout track: Energy
