WASHINGTON (AURN News) — President Donald Trump says Karoline Leavitt will leave her role as White House press secretary at the end of the month. He announced her departure on Truth Social, saying Leavitt wants to spend more time with her two young children and family.
She recently returned from maternity leave after giving birth to her second child in May. Leavitt, 28, became the youngest White House press secretary in U.S. history when Trump returned to office in 2025.
She was also one of the administration’s most visible and combative defenders.
She’s leaving the government, but not Trump’s political operation. The president says she will serve as a top outside adviser and remain an influential Republican voice heading into the midterm elections.
No replacement has been announced.
Leavitt wrote on social media that since returning to the White House after the birth of her daughter, she has “felt in my heart that I cannot be the best mom my two young children deserve while devoting the constant time, energy, and attention required of the White House Press Secretary,” calling her departure a “bittersweet decision.”
