WASHINGTON (AURN News) — Congressional Democrats are accusing Republicans of pouring billions into immigration enforcement while Americans struggle with rising costs at home.

During a press conference on Capitol Hill Thursday, Democratic leaders blasted a Republican spending package that would dramatically expand ICE funding while doing little to lower grocery, health care, housing and gas prices.

“Their rotten budget bill, which we still haven’t seen because they’re still fighting with each other, will give $72 billion to ICE and Border Patrol without any guardrails,” said Sen. Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y.

“Taxpayer dollars should be used to make life more affordable, not subsidize corruption by Donald Trump and his cartel,” said House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries, D-N.Y.

“And whether it’s today, tomorrow, next month or next year, we will not stop fighting to drive down costs and ease the burdens that are weighing on American families,” said Sen. Angela Alsobrooks, D-Md.
