(AURN News) — Sen. Raphael Warnock, D-Ga., has unveiled a comprehensive plan that he says would strengthen voting rights in America, arguing the country has waited too long while access to the ballot has steadily eroded.
The Georgia Democrat’s proposal would make voting rights the first priority if Democrats regain control of Washington. His plan calls for restoring key protections of the Voting Rights Act, banning partisan gerrymandering, creating a nationwide standard for early voting, mail voting and Election Day access, limiting the influence of billionaires in federal elections, granting statehood to Washington, D.C., and allowing U.S. territories to determine their own political future.
Warnock also wants Congress to investigate officials accused of intentionally drawing political maps that weaken Black voting power, saying voters deserve accountability when district lines are manipulated for political gain.
