Like most films this year, Antebellum, a thriller about the horrifying memories of slavery, was scheduled to open in theaters. Now, it will open on-demand this Friday, September 18.

Janelle Monae stars as successful author Veronica Henley who finds herself trapped in a horrifying alternate reality and must uncover a mind-bending mystery before it’s too late.

Monae shares with Tanya Hart that the concept of honoring Black women as motivation to play this role.
