“Grandpa feelings” troubled E’Dina Hines in the last months of her life, say newly-revealed texts hinting at her alleged sexual relationship with step-grandfather Morgan Freeman.

In a July 3, 2015 text to her ex-boyfriend and alleged killer Lamar Davenport, Hines, then 33 years old, hinted at trouble with an older man.

“I don’t ask him for advice,” Hines wrote. “He was calling to ask me … I blocked him for myself not for you because men who equal grandpa feelings don’t need to be in my life at all.”

Hines wrote the text as she and Davenport chatted about the status of their rocky relationship and whether they would take break. In the chat, they alluded to outside interests, including her relationship with “grandpa.” During their chat, Davenport texted to Hines that “when it comes to … your grandfather, there’s a submissive love that will always be there.”

Davenport hinted in the text that as Hines’s boyfriend, he had to accept that for nearly a decade, it’s been rumored that Hines had a sexual relationship with her Oscar-winning grandfather. Hines was the daughter of a woman adopted by Freeman and his first wife. Hines and Freeman, now 80, publicly denied any affair. They also denied gossip website reports that they planned to wed.

But at Davenport’s trial in Manhattan Supreme Court on Friday, lawyers stipulated that Hines “disclosed to Lamar Davenport and others that her grandfather engaged in a sexually inappropriate relationship with her.” It’s unclear so far why the texts are being introduced at Hines’s trial. When lawyers disclosed their stipulation in court Friday, Hines’ birth mother Deena Adair and Myrna Colley-Lee, Freeman’s second wife who unofficially adopted Hines, were seated in the gallery.

Davenport, 33, killed Hines in front of their W. 162nd St. building on Aug. 16, 2015. Prosecutors say Davenport stabbed Hines approximately 25 times. Defense lawyers say Davenport was in the throes of a drug-induced psychosis, and thus is not criminally responsible for her death.
