(AURN News) — As President Donald Trump weighs whether to join Israel in bombing Iran, American families are already paying the price — at the pump.
Gas prices are rising sharply nationwide, even though summer demand typically peaks earlier in the season. The national average for a gallon of regular gas hit $3.21 this week, according to AAA. That’s up from $3.13 last week and $3.17 a month earlier.
In California, drivers are still paying among the highest prices in the country. The state average held steady at $4.65 a gallon — the same as last week, but down from $4.89 last month. Texas saw a jump to $2.83 this week, up from $2.74 last week. In Pennsylvania, prices rose to $3.36, up from $3.27 last week.
The steady climb in gas costs is compounding pressure on working families already burdened by months of elevated grocery and rent prices. Uncertainty around potential military action could add to market anxiety, as oil traders react to signs that the conflict might escalate.
