Wayne State University in Detroit recently received a $6 million grant from the Mellon Foundation. The goal is to increase the number of Black Studies faculty members and to also establish the Detroit Center for Black Studies. The program will recruit and hire 30 new humanities faculty. Among those faculty members, 10 will be new early career scholars, 10 new tenure-track hires; and 10 tenured faculty members at the associate or full professor level.
