WASHINGTON (AURN News) — New White House press secretary Katie Zacharia made her debut Tuesday with a briefing that lasted about 14 minutes, leaving limited time for reporters’ questions.
“I am so honored to work for President Trump and the American people,” Zacharia said during her first White House briefing.
More than eight minutes of the briefing were devoted to Zacharia’s opening statement. She called on reporters from just three news outlets: Breitbart, Fox News and the Daily Mail.
Fox News correspondent Peter Doocy asked her a policy question about whether the U.S. had stopped sharing intelligence with Ukraine.
“I’ll have to get back to you on that,” Zacharia replied.
From the White House podium, Zacharia also promoted Trump’s campaign rallies, raising questions about the Hatch Act’s restrictions on federal employees engaging in political activity while on duty.
Zacharia did confirmed that the White House had asked Kimberly Guilfoyle, the U.S. ambassador to Greece, to resign. The announcement followed a report by The New York Times that a Trump donor said Guilfoyle had asked him for $100,000 to pay off her American Express bill. Guilfoyle has since resigned.
Zacharia’s brief debut left reporters with many questions unanswered about Trump’s new press secretary.
