Georgia Senate hopeful Herschel Walker is denying a report that he paid an ex-girlfriend to get an abortion.
“I never asked anyone to get an abortion. I never paid for an abortion, and it’s a lie, and I’m gonna continue to fight… I tell you, that’s what they want. They want this seat,” Walker said.
Walker, a Republican who has taken a hard-line anti-abortion position, made the comments on Fox News on Monday. The Daily Beast reports the former football star paid his then-girlfriend in 2009 to have the procedure.
On Twitter, Walker said it was another “repugnant hatchet job” from a Democrat activist disguised as a reporter. He said he plans to take action against the news outlet. Walker is running against Democratic Sen. Raphael Warnock for a Senate Georgia.
Meanwhile, his son, Christian Walker, took to Twitter to air out his father and said, “Every family member of Herschel Walker asked him not to run for office, because we all knew (some of) his past. Every single one. He decided to give us the middle finger and air out all of his dirty laundry in public, while simultaneously lying about it.”
