(AURN News) — A recent survey by the Pew Research Center highlights significant differences in how Black Americans engage with and perceive local crime news compared to other racial and ethnic groups. The findings show that Black people not only consume local crime news more frequently but are also more likely to express concerns about its impact on their communities.

According to the survey, Black Americans are more engaged with local crime news than any other racial or ethnic group. They report seeing or hearing about violent crime in their communities more often, a trend that aligns with their general preference for closely following local and neighborhood news according to previous Pew Research Center studies. The other studies also found that the Black community believes that dealing with crime should be a top issue for the President and Congress.

Pew also found that Black people, more often than other races, believe the information coming from the police and local news remains biased and unfair.
