(AURN News) — According to PEOPLE, Don Lemon is responding after Nicki Minaj attacked him with a homophobic slur over his coverage of an ICE-related protest in Minnesota.
On Jan. 18, Lemon posted video from a demonstration in the Twin Cities where activists disrupted a church service. The protest centered on David Easterwood, who is listed as a pastor at Cities Church and is also the acting director of ICE’s St. Paul Field Office.
Minaj reacted overnight on X, insulting Lemon and calling for someone involved to be jailed.
Don Lemon, who has been on the ground in Minneapolis interviewing people, responded in a statement to TMZ, saying Minaj doesn’t understand journalism and that her post should have featured a “Pick Me” doll instead.
The story comes amid rising tensions in Minnesota involving ICE agents after the tragic killing of Renee Nicole Good.
