Black leaders are convening to look at how to close the racial wealth gap. This is part of the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation’s 51st ALC Conference. This forum will discuss the potential impact of HR 40 on Black Americans, and explore how reparations will tangibly address the psychological and mental harms stemming from the enslavement of Africans in the U.S., as well as structural racism, discrimination, and economic disparities experienced by multiple generations of Black Americans.
Hosted by Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee, and moderated by Dr. Ron Daniels, who’s the convener of the National African American Reparations Commission, these leaders will provide perspectives towards repairing the racial wealth gap, which according to a 2020 Citigroup study has cost the U.S. economy up to $16 trillion over the past 20 years and deeply impacted Black communities across the United States.
