HAMPTON, VA – It’s homecoming week for Hampton University, and students are excited to be back on campus to see what this year’s “HU-CHELLA 2.0” theme will bring.

This week is full of events from the much-anticipated Miss Hampton and Mr. Pirate pageant to a guest appearance from DJ Envy at the Pepsi X Essence She Got Now Event, but what most students are excited for is the big homecoming game.

“I’m very grateful that the university has even been able to hold such events for the homecoming as they have been just because other universities have cancelled.”

This year’s homecoming is a lot different due to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, but that is not stopping students from having fun at this year’s homecoming festivities.

“I’m just glad to be celebrating homecoming on campus this year.” Hampton University has been implementing the COVID-19 protocols in all campus events to keep all students and faculty safe. Students believe the University is doing the best to keep everyone safe. The reaction across the board from the majority of students is they feel safe being on campus, and being able to have the experience of a little bit of normalcy.”
