President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden traveled to Buffalo, New York to meet with families whose loved ones were killed senselessly by an 18-year-old gunman who reportedly feared white people were being replaced by minorities.
“Jill and I have come to stand with you. And to the families: We’ve come to grieve with you. It’s not the same, but we know a little bit what it’s like to lose a piece of your soul,” Biden said during his speech at Delavan-Grider Community Center.
“Hate and fear are being given too much oxygen by those who pretend to love America, but who don’t understand America.”
The president specifically condemned the ideology of white supremacy that he says has been allowed to grow unchecked in recent years.

Ten people were killed during last Saturday’s deadly mass shooting. Authorities are calling the incident racially motivated.
