According to the World Health Organization, the number of new weekly cases of COVID-19 reported globally has continued to decline since the peak in January 2022. During the week of May 30th to June 5th, over 3 million cases were reported, a 12% decrease compared to the previous week.
The number of new weekly deaths also continues to decline, with over 600 fatalities reported globally. The United States, however, has the highest number of new weekly cases compared to China, Brazil, Australia, and Germany. We also have the highest number of new weekly deaths. Although, that number is down 33%.
Around 85 million COVID cases have been reported across the U.S. in total with California, Texas, and Florida reporting the highest numbers. Omicron still continues to be the dominant variant circling globally.
