50 Cent has been flirting with the idea of going into mixed martial arts for the past week, but it wasn’t until he took a shot at brawler Rampage Jackson on Tuesday, May 8, that the possibility of him getting the strap for a matchup in the cage was raised.
Rumors began flying around about 50 getting in on the promotion end after he recently shared a photograph of him sitting with Bellator president Scott Coker. According to reports, they were connected by a mutual friend and hooked up to talk business in Beverly Hills. The meeting is said to have lasted for two hours, with the rap mogul inquiring into Bellator’s “fighter-recruitment system and how we build athletes and sign free agents,”Coker told MMAJunkie.
50 Cent has promoted in the fight game before, but it was through a boxing venture under the SMS Promotions banner that didn’t last very long after its inception in 2012. He has also competed in combat. Although never professionally, the rapper-turned-television producer was known to box around New York City’s amateur circuit prior to committing to music. And then, of course, there is his venture into television.
