Black Panther, alter ego of T’Challa, King of Wakanda, is the first Black super hero debuting in Marvel Comics in 1966.
Director Ryan Coogler (Fruitvale Station, Creed) co-wrote and directed Black Panther which features Chadwick Boseman as the titular character, Michael B. Jordan as villain Erik Killmonger, Lupita Nyong’o as Nakia, and Angela Bassett as Ramonda.
White the Marvel Black Panther character predates The Black Panther Party, the nod to Huey P. Newton’s famous pose is undeniable.
The official release date of Black Panther is February 16, 2018.
