The white man charged with fatally shooting nine black parishioners at the historic Emanuel AME Church in Charleston, South Carolina, in June of 2015, wants to bring his defense team back on board for the guilt phase of his federal death penalty trial, which begins this week.
The request comes a week after a judge allowed Dylann Roof to represent himself. Roof says he wants to go back to representing himself for the penalty phase.
