Ice Cube thinks Drake has hit his career peak. In a sit down on the Sana G Morning Show, Cube expressed his opinion on the “God’s Plan” rapper’s status as “best rapper in the game.” Though the Grammy-winning artist has had a successful and consistent few years in the music industry, Ice Cube says Drake’s time is about up.

“You only get a 3-year-run in the rap game. You only get 3 years at the tip-top of the rap game and you gotta find your place in this thing.”

It was obvious that Cube wasn’t being shady in his statement when he described it as a “pattern” in the industry. He even used Lil Wayne, T-Pain, Kendrick Lamar and himself as examples of artists who have reigned supreme and had to hand their crown over to their successor based on what “the people want.” He also clarified that his belief has nothing to do with the current battle Drake has with Pusha T.

“I don’t think that did it. I think the audience has determined that more. You get 3 years. You can own the airwaves, but then it’s time for somebody else. That’s just been the pattern.”
