Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe is in Hawaii for a visit to the USS Arizona Memorial at Pearl Harbor which honors those killed in the 1941 attack which plunged the U.S. into World War II. He’ll be joined by President Barack Obama.
President Barack Obama joined Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe (shin-zoh ah-bay) at the memorial that rests on top of the sunken USS Arizona. Earlier this year President Obama became the first sitting U.S. president to visit Hiroshima, site of the world’s first atomic bombing.

Abe did not apologize for Pearl Harbor. Obama did not apologize for Hiroshima when he visited Japan in May.
