Octavia Spencer has announced plans to buy out an entire theater to take a community to the movies. The actress made the announcement on Instagram on Wednesday, saying that she intends to make sure as many people as possible are able to check out the upcoming flick Black Panther.
The movie is already tipped for a massive opening weekend, but not everyone can afford a ticket – a fact that Octavia is hoping to remedy. ‘I think I will buy out a theatre in an underserved community there to ensure that all our brown children can see themselves as a superhero,’ she said in the post. ‘I will let you know where and when Mississippi. Stay tuned.’
This is not the first time that Octavia has made such a gesture. She did the same back in 2017 with a theater in Los Angeles screening Hidden Figures.
