President Donald Trump may have just put regime change in Iran back on the table.

After a surprise U.S. strike on three of Iran’s nuclear sites, Trump took to social media, writing: “If the current Iranian Regime is unable to MAKE IRAN GREAT AGAIN, why wouldn’t there be a regime change???” He ended the post with “MIGA!!!”

That’s a far cry from earlier White House calls to deescalate and resume diplomacy. But now White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt is doubling down, calling Iran’s leadership a “brutal terrorist regime” and suggesting the Iranian people should rise up.

What’s raising more eyebrows is the lack of consultation with Democratic leaders before the strikes. The Gang of Eight, Congress’ top intelligence members, were not fully briefed. Only top Republicans were given detailed intelligence.

House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries received what was described as a “courtesy call.” Critics say the move signals a dangerous politicization of foreign policy and a political escalation with global consequences.
